Trijicon 4x32 OR an Eotech setup with 3x magnifier?

Hi all,

Looking to purchase a new "glass" setup, and curious if anyone has gone from a Trijicon 4x32 to an Eotech setup with the 3X magnifier (or from an EO to a Triji).

I'm really only going to be shooting it at the range, generally at 100 yards. What I want to be able to do is "see" the POI on the paper target. I'm just not sure (given I do have close to 20/20 vision) IF I'll be able to see the hole on paper with either setup at 100 yards (assuming a sunny day).

I know primary arms has a 6x magnifier, and I'm noodling that option, but not sure how well it would work with the Eotech, or what mount I'd need to ensure they work succinctly.

Last question for those who have seen/worked with both. Which optic above would you say is truly either "4x" or "3x" - I know some manufacturers state "10x magnification," but in reality they don't quite live up to the marketing hype. I know both of these brands are really good, just curiouus if one totally outshines the other.

for what it's worth I'm leaning toward the Trijicon, although I could buy the eotech package (or primary arms) and use the extra $$$ for a true scope.

I actually went from a TA01 on a Colt M4 to the EXPS2 and G23. I liked the acog and it worked very well for me, but I did quite a bit of shooting and plinking at closer ranges, 25, 50, 75, and then 100 and the Eotech seemed like the better option. After having it now, I'm very happy with it. Flip up the magnifier when I want to reach out there, usually past 250-300 yards, but use just teh straight 1 moa on the eotech for anything under.

I think you would be happy with either, 6 in one hand and a half dozen on the other. I just like the eotech, MPO-III setup, but of teh closer range shooting I usually do.

First off, unless your eyes are razor sharp you are not gonna see .223/5.56 strikes @ 100 yds unless you have high contrast paper (i.e. shoot n c) with any 4x acog.

Eotech + Primary Arms Magnifier
As far as the primary arms setup, I didn't like it. The eye relief I felt was terrible and it just didn't have the clarity of a ACOG glass. I had the original Eotech mount with the PA FTS mount and the combination is considerably heavier than an eotech. In less than ideal conditions (i.e. if it is anything less than sunny) the definition of the ACOG easily bested the PA + Eotech. Eotech (unmagnified) cannot be beat in target acquisition speed, but the ACOG is easily better at long range target acquisition vs the EoTech + PA setup.

If I had to have only 1 optic; I pick the ACOG. Fortunately I have both. My eotech is mounted on my 14.5 pencil thin m4 and my ACOG I use on my 18" SPR.

perhaps the genuine eotech magnifier setup performs better and weighs less; but I haven't tried that setup yet. The Eotech MPO combination is going to be substantially cheaper than a brand new 4x acog - perhaps its worth a try!
