    XPS-2 Quality

So I heard that ever since they changed the batteries to be perpendicular to the barrel they've been experiencing problems. Because it's not tight inside the compartment they can shake and cause the battery to leak.

Is this true? Does anyone have any Eotech related problems?

I bought one on sale a week or two ago and just started hearing horror stories all of a sudden.

Any input about quality is appreciated

I've heard the opposite. It was the older units with the batteries running lengthwise that were having problems with battery leakage and wire disconnects.

The newer XPS series supposedly addresses some of these issues (and is a smaller form factor).

I have the XPS2-0 and no problems so far...

I havent seen any XPS or EXPS models come back at all for battery issues like that. Not saying that doesn't happen, but I have never seen one returned for that. I think you're pretty safe. You also have a great warranty from EOTech, just in case.

You're going to hear negative things about any product.
With the sheer number of newer model Eotechs that have been sold here on Calguns through group buys, if there was a problem I think it would have been made known by now.
I have about a year and thousands of rounds through a 2-2 I got from Tunis at Metal Dog Tactical and no problems so far. The new design has the battery seated pretty securely inside the battery cap housing. Once assembled spring tension keeps it securely in the cap. The recoil force is not working against the spring, so I don't think there is anything to worry about.

I have a EXPS 2-2 OPMOD and I have had no problems with it. About 2200 rounds and counting.

I think krisjon is correct. Having the batteries run long ways, the recoil was causing the batteries to rattle back and forth. Wearing out the springs and rattling the batteries. I think thats why they put the batteries sideways in the new units.

I've had multiple 516a and my buddies have XPS... I've never experienced this battery issue people speak of after thousands and thousands of rounds.

Maybe it was a AA issue? Even then, I doubt many people ACTUALLY experienced it.

                My personal experience:

I have a 512, batteries parallel to the barrel. 7 years, no problems with sight shutting off.

I have an EXPS2, batteries perpendicular to the barrel, 1 year, no problems with battery leakage.
