    scope for marlin xt22

i'm looking for a good scope for a marlin xt22. i'm looking to spend around 150 to 250 dollars. any good recomendations? i've always been an ar15 iron sights guy, so the optics thing is brand new to me.

Check out the VX-I Leupold 2x7-28 ultra-fine reticle. I just got one from Midway on sale and it's perfect for the critters around my place. I just put it on my Marlin 925 and it's great.

Take a look at this Nikon Prostaff Rimfire:

The BDC 150 reticle is surprisingly accurate and the parallax is set at 50yards.
I have used this model on a CMMG .22 with great results!

What type of shooting at what distance will you be using the rifle? If just plinking or hunting a good 2-7x or 3-9x will serve you well. If target shooting then higher magnification is better. 50yd targets at least 12X, 100yd at least 24X. At $250 there are some decent choices out there.

I just purchased this scope to mount on my CZ 455 22lr. I have not shot it yet but Wow what a clear view! I'm sur it will be awesome. Paid $132 shipped if I recall correctly.

What 24x scope are you using that cost $250, and isn't garbage? And 24x for 100 yards? Clear glass with a fine reticle at 9x-12x should be just fine. A decent 24x scope is good for a hell of a lot further than 100 yards, but that's also going to cost a lot more than $250.
