Aimpoint better with 1/3 cowitness or absolute??

Hey guys I just got a H-1 and haven't purchased a mount yet because I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. I have heard that on the aimpoints a lot of people prefer the 1/3 cowitness mounts vs the absolute cowitness. Why is this?? I was looking at the DD mount and it looked pretty nice and would fit well with my omega 9 on my AR. But the LaRue mount looks pretty sweet too so what do you guys think??

What are the benefits of having the 1/3 cowitness over the absolute?? Im sure I can adjust to whatever, Im just wondering what you guys like and why..

    Thanks for the help

    It's really up to you.

I prefer 1/3rd co-witness where the Front Sight stays at the lower 1/3rd portion of the sight view. Honestly though, if you set it up for absolute, depending on where you hold your head and cheek weld, you can make a lot of the front sight disappear anyhow.

HK Dave is absolutely correct; It's totally personal preference.

However, I like lower 1/3, because it allows you to have a less-stringent cheekweld (certain shooting situations make it tough to get a nice, tight cheek weld.)

Sometimes getting low enough to look through the irons just isn't possible; the lower 1/3rd gives you a little more lee-weigh.

Before moving to my Comp M4, I had a T1 in a DD mount; Excellent configuration, and a lot of HSLD use that setup! (i'm NOT!)

Okay cool thanks for the help guys. Yea I have a SPARC on now and its absolute but I like the idea of having some more leeway in my cheekweld and sight picture. I just thought if your dot goes out its better to have absolute because your point of aim wont change.

Is it hard to see through both irons in 1/3 with the dot not on? It seems like this is the more common and popular set up so Im leaning I think with you guys..

And as for the T1 vs H1..Im not gonna be scuba diving with my AR or wearing night vision either so is there any other advantages of going with the T1 over the H1?

Def preference, with that said Im a 100% cowitness fan. With sights deployed there is no "transition" if the dot goes out, just keep on shooting

Plus it keeps you from getting lazy and helps practice lining up your irons correctly

Uh, just to be clear...sighting through your irons while using the red dot is not the right way to use a red dot sight.

When you're shooting with the red dot sight you look over the top of the irons.

Personally I like the absolute co-witness over the lower 1/3 since I have an SR-15 upper that keeps my front sight completely out of the way. I'm not a HSLD dude either so my back up sights are always folded down and will probably always stay down unless I really really want to shoot with irons.

A lot of folks are going with the 1/3 cowitness for two reasons. One, if you have a permanently mounted forward sight it is less intrusive. And two, many people find the extra height more comfortable.

Like others have said, it comes down to personal preference. I like 1/3 cowitness, even though, strictly speaking, absolute cowitness is better.
