    Clones

This may sound silly but I am looking for an acog and an eotech/aimpoint clone that will hold up to a 5.56.

Reason I am looking for clones is I will be building a couple rifles and need a few different optics to see what I prefer before I jump in and spend 500-1000 a piece.

Any positive information would be greatly appreciated, but please don't tell me I'm a bad person or that they suck and so on lol.

There really is no ACOG clone. As you're probably aware, the ACOGs use tritium and/or Fiber optics to illuminate their reticles.

For an Aimpoint clone, you can try the Primary Arms ones. Thats what I did, I bought an M3 clone, tried it for a while, liked it so much bought a real one and put the PA on my MP-22.

Other than Airsoft clones, you wont find an Eotech clone. Atleast nothing worth the money that will last on 5.56.

I really don't mind battery operated "ACOG" just to try. Looking for the size/shape and the 4x if its a possibility. If not I will just have to wait til I find someone who uses and will let me try lol.

The problem is, nothing will have the glass clarity of an ACOG. It's like test driving a mustang GT if you're interested in a Porsche GT3, saying they're both sports cars.

Primary Arms makes a fixed 3x with a similar reticle- that might be your best bet. You can buy one of those with a M3 clone (don't get the one with multi-reticles, they're bigger, bulkier and have more controls).

        Good luck!

Tried all three. I wound up with an Acog for 100+ yards and Aimpoint -100 yards in the end.

You cant "test out" different types of optics and understand what using the real thing is going to be like. Try out different people's otpics, go to the counter and look through some different glass.....but FRIENDS DONT LET FRIENDS BUY CLONES!!!!

All you need to know is:

              1) Do you like red dots?
              2) Do you light scopes?
              3) Do you like iron sights?

Once you get past that decision, then the only way to "test them out" is to actually test out the actual products you are looking to buy. I had a clone: They dont hold zero, they dont adjust, they are of extremely poor quality, and you're supporting companies/countries who rip off the designs of hard working Americans. I learned my lesson....I hope you do to, only without having to waste money on useless optics/sights which hardly deserve to be on airsoft rifles.

YMWV (Your Mileage WONT Vary).....you are sure to waste your money on these items if you move forward with your plan.

I sold my acog T31AF and bought a primary arms 3x short scope. Except for that amazing clarity an ACOG has I think the PA is a fine enough scope for what most of us do, that is not dive to 30 meters, and have no availability to batteries. For $179.00 the PA is a steal.

If you do hit the lottery than by all means get an acog, but its not as easy to use as you would think. The eye relief is touchy, and the night illumination from the tritium is at times not as usable as I expected. Mine was brand new and it still was a bit dull...or maybe I am just dull...or both.

Mine has over 1000 rounds now on it on an AR pistol. Its held zero fine and survived one drop off a picnic table at burro and survivied.

As was mentioned before, there's no ACOG clone. I've seen an ACOG "clone"... my God what a piece of trash. Don't do it!

As for a red dot, try primaryarms.com, I've used the micro with 12 gauge slugs, and it seems to hold zero fine.... so far.
