    NightForce or Leupold MK4?

    The MRT 1.5 - 5 X Magnification is just not enough, so I'm selling it and opting for an optic with more magnification.

    I'm deciding between these two optics ;

    NightForce 3.5-15 X 50 MLR Reticle /w LaRue Mount $1,940.00

    Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10 X 40 TMR Reticle /w LaRue Mount $1,500.00

    In your opinion, will the $440 difference be worth it? I know NightForce optics are highly regarded as top quality. I also realize that the NF offers 5X more magnification. It'll go on a precision AR so I don't think I'll need that much magnification. It's more of an SPR build.

    Yes, it'll be worth it.

    $400 will get you matching reticles, better glass, better turret feel, and better reliability.

    I think NF also offers a 2.5-10x which may fit your needs better. It'll also have a smaller objective so it's not so big and heavy off your rifle. However, I'm unsure of the reticle choices. May be something to look into if you want a max magnification of 10x.

      I'd pony up the extra $400.

      Better quality, higher resale value, transferrable lifetime warranty, can use it as a hammer or baseball bat etc etc.

          Nightforce is obviously great. But I have put big caliber rounds down range using a Leupold Mark 4 with no problems. Don't forget the Nightforce 2.5-10x32mm it's less expensive.

          There is the newer FFP TMR reticuled Leupold Mark 4 4.5-14x50mm ER/T with M5 milrad turrets for near $1500. I've had my eye on scopes lately and it's a good one. The NXS is illuminated if that's what you want. The FFP Nightforce will run you $2300. Leupold sells more scopes than just about any manufacturer. The Mark 4 is also used successfully in combat so it has that going for it.

            +1 on this. For SPR that's the way to go.

            Another option: take a look at Leupold Mark 4 2.5-8X36.
