    Boresight for holosight

I was shopping around for a cheap .223/5.56 boresighter. I am about to take my new holosight out on the keltec I got and dont have a ton of experience with sighting stuff in on optics.

I found a Firefield .223 5.56 Bore Sight kit and there around 20 or so on ebay and websites. Anyone had any luck with them?

Honestly... after owning a boresighter... I found its not that great of an accessory. I never use it anymore. It never gets accurate enough results. Only thing I might use it for is to for a new scope, just to see if I might be on the paper or not.

I find it easier just shooting to zero.

Get a sold bench, bags, whatever... Take 3-5 shots, adjust, rinse and repeate till u get it.

Even with new optics, I can get my rifle sighted with 10 rounds...

Use math...., if I am 2" high and 2" to the left, with 1/4 MOA clicks, depending on your distance at the range, dial it in. 100 yards correction would be 8 clicks down, 8 to the right. shoot another group to confirm and fine tune.

If you already have iron sights that are installed, just co-whiteness the RDS and test it out. Should get you zero or on the paper worst case scenario.

Good input. I'd hate to spend even that much cash if I can get it done without spending money on a bore sighter. I went from using this on a Saiga high mount to a su16ca. I'm sure it will be way off. It unreasonable to start at 25/30 yards and go out to 50? I don't shoot farther than 200 yards max.

And I suppose I could have a buddy help me with the 2 shot sight in method with him working the dials until it's on the bullet holes on target?

Oh and as far as cowitness I was thinking that would be great but teh sights on this rifle are terrible which is why I'm going optic route, and there too low to use with optic, the eotech blocks it regardless. I'm almost thinking of starting close up since it might be easier then go out to 50 since it even says that 50 yards is the ideal distance to sight in at.

Boresight it by sighting down the bore! Don't waste your money on cheaply made gimmicks.

I don't even use math when zeroing optics. It's simpler than that. Just aim and fire. Then, reaim at your intial POA and, without letting the gun move (you need a decent rest system to do this) walk your POA to your POI. That's it. Your optics are sighted in at whatever distance you were shooting at with only one round fired. Of course, when feasable, I do look down the bore and adjust my optics to whatever I see in the center of the bore before I take my first shot.

Thanks man! I actually popped it on the keltec and lined it up as best I could just from looking down on the front post and leveling it with the holosight. I should be roughly in the ball park just from that.
