Millet scopes

What are your opinions on Millet scopes?

Which model or you looking at? or are you referring to the whole "brand" in general ?

I recently bought a 4x16x50 Gold Buck from Natcheezz for 139.99.

Going to Sac Valley Tomorrow to sight it in. Will let you know how it works.

Don't have a specific model I am looking at right now just wondering how they stack up as a whole
To be honest I only have around $400-$500 to spend and it looks like millet gives the most bang for the buck but I also think it might be too good to be true
It will be going on a 700 in .308 btw

Since your spending hard earned cash I would expand and look at your price range off Opticsplanet.net , from there you'll see the many brands and base your decision. Good glass and coatings make the difference not any fancy illuminated features....

With $400 you can get a Bushnell elite 3200 5-15 with mildots, adjustable parallax, and target turrets. Not to mention they have great glass for the price. I've been shooting practical rifle matches with a millet trs-1 for about 6 months now and I can say that I have had success with it but when compared against bushnells and swfa's, the glass isn't as bright.

At 100 yards everything was blurry and nothing I did with the adjustments would correct it.

I purposely left the zoom at 10X at all distances. 25, 50, 75 and 100.

Parallax controls did not match the pre-set range distance I was shooting at.

It could also been user error as well.

Ive used a lot of them over the years and for the price theyre great. The trs-1's can be found everywhere these days for good prices and Ive had one that Ive beat up pretty good for 4 or 5 years now. Problem is that theres so many really nice scope that have come out since then and more recently that are only a paycheck or 2 savings from being better in a lot of ways. good luck!

I really like the 3-12x42SF Nikon Monarch for the price. Side focus and great coatings on the glass!

I dont really have any experience with a MIllet scope personally but a buddy of mine took one out for the first time on his M1A and blew the internals aftr just a couple shots.

As for the comment above, some scopes wont focus below 100 yards. DId you adjust the eye box adjustments? And even a lot of "high-end" scopes dont have the parallax distances marked correct. Thats just due to differences from scope to scope.

I have a Millet TRS-1 on my Remington 700 in .308. It's really fine for what I do with it.

For your budget, I would go with a Vortex Viper 6.5-20x44 Mildot. I personally think the glass is better than the Millett. Customer service is A+ too.

In your price range there are a lot of options available that are superior to the Millett. Think about the application of the scope. Do you like the "look" of the Millett or looking through the Millett?

If you dont need a "tactical" scope you can save the money from the tactical features and invest the money into something with better glass that you can actually see through.

If you are distance target shooting you have all the time you need to adjust focus, set turrets etc... huge target turrets are great when you need to read the numbers quickly under pressure and side focus is convenient but you will find most scopes with a front focus will have better adjust ability. The looks and quick convenience are cool but they are an added expense. .

I guess my personal experience has been; buy the best glass you can. All the features in the world wont help you if you cant see what you're aiming at. But hey, I could be wrong.

Personal preference; look at the Burris Signature Select, Bushnell Elite 4200, Nikon Monarch, and Leupold VXII
