RS AKM + Vortex Strikefire

I'm thinking of getting this setup for my ak 47, 74, 12. Can any one give me some feedback on this? Also what type of batteries will it run on?

I sent the Vortex strikefire back. I never shot it so I cant say it is a POS but the red dot was not a dot at all. It resembled a cluster of grapes.Later I read others had same problem.

May sound like BS but I didn't think the strikefire dot was very clear either. I googled to see if others had the same experience. They had but it had been attributed to ones own eyesight. My wife & kids said it was just a clear dot. Took it to work & all my shooting buds were impressed with how sharp & clear the dot was.

Having an astigmatism will cause it to show up blurry for some people, I have the same problem with my eotech, but it goes away when I use it outdoors and aim at targets farther away. It's only noticeable when I aim at objects indoors/close to me.

same here, and frankly if you had to use it in doors at close range it wouldnt matter.

I would almost argue it does not matter much period, remember these are all about quick acquisition and snap shots, not precision. Even reflex sights with "1moa" dots are not precision sights.

I had both on my Arsenal for a while. It held zero and the Strikefire worked fine. The mount is SOLID A+. The 2x Magnifier is absolutely worthless, its too dark and your FOV really shrinks. The red dot is ok for the money. It does fade a little bit during really sunny days and is more of a cluster rather than a dot. If your looking for quick shots at 25-50 for some fun plinking, then this is for you. Anything beyond that is kinda stretching it, the MOA on the dot is way too big for anything precision.

I have also noticed a slight discoloration in the FOV. This is from the lens coatings that bounce the light back to your eye. Not that it matters too much, but that is one difference between a Strikefire and an Aimpoint. Overall I would say it is a great sight for the price.

I tried one on my AR and it worked great at the short range I had available. I could move and shoot well with it. I ordered one for my Saiga and it is supposed to arrive today. I prefer a 1-4 for the AR.

I have both the RS Products mount and a StrikeFire. The work great together and I have no issue with the dot on the StrikeFire. It's a great RDS for the money.
