    bore sighting issue

I have a dpms .308 LR im using a laser bore sight when looking through the scope the laser is at the bottom of the scope I run out of adjustment to get the crosshair on the Laser. I'm using high size rings the scope abjective is just clearing the free float tube. Guy at yhe gun shop said I need higher rings . if I get taller rings wouldnt that make the crosshair even faryher from the laser

How far are you from what ever you're aiming at?

Those laser boresighters will get you on paper, if you are lucky, and thats about it. Given that the laser is traveling in a straight line, and so is your vision in looking thru the scope, you need to take into account the height over bore of the scope. Ideally, at that distance you are going to want to have the laser be roughly an inch to an inch and a half below your crosshairs, that should allow for you being closer on when you actually get to zero it at 100.

Uh, your main problem is that you have bought into the illussion that cheap laser boresighters are properly adjusted and will work. Why not just bore sight it without using any crap? Opo the upper off, pull the bolt out, look down the tube at an object in the distance and walk your optics over until they are lined up with whatever you see as you sight down the bore. Yea, it really is simpler and better than spending moniy on crap that doesn't work.

Im going to try the pulling the bcg and looking down the barrel and try to line it up that way. I also got a bettet scope then the one I had when trying to sight it in. my first scope I had to aim at the base of the 200 yard target to hit it and that target was on a pole. Hopefully the new scope will be alot better.

Well? Did it work? Do you know that you can zero optics at any distance with only one shot? If you're local, I might be able to help you out.

I put the new scope on with some new rings and tried again with the laser pointed about 100 yards and it took very little adjustment to line it to the laser. I wont be able to test it at the range till tuesday or wensday.
