Rail scope mount Q
Looking through my safe while thinking about various things I want to do this year got me thinking about some upgrades. The major one would be putting Picatinny rails on all my (non AR) rifles to be able to swap scopes at will. One question comes to mind as I shop for these: what's the difference between a 20 MOA rail and a 0 MOA rail, and how does it affect what I put them on?

A 20 MOA rail will have a slight downward cant to it. This slight angle will force and optic at this angle. To get a clear view thru your optic you will naturally have to raise the muzzle. This will then cause your flight path to be more of a arc. Much like throwing a baseball at a higher angle to hit a further target, this will allow you to have the capability or taking further shots. For most centerfire cartridges, a 20 MOA base is very helpful at shooting over the 700 yard mark, plus or minus a little.
