    Love my EoTech!

I finally got to take my new AR upper w/ EoTech 512 to Angeles a few days ago. After a few minutes of fiddling to get it to zero, I was amazed at how well it worked! Target acquisition was super fast, after that it was just point and shoot. I was getting about 1.5"-2" groups at 50 yards and the roughly equivalent 3"-4" groups at 100 yards. I'm clear the rifle is capable of tighter, but I'm not, or at least not yet.

The only concern I have about the thing is durability. With the front lens barely protected by the shroud, it'll certainly get dirty and possibly scratched or broken with rough handling. I'm curious how the military is finding them durability-wise.

Anyway, for those on the fence, it really works well so I would definitely recommend giving it a try!

What mount for it are you running?

I have a flat topped receiver so the built in mount on the sight tightens directly to it. I have the 512 so it's not the quick release type, you need a coin or screwdriver to tighten it.

I don't plan on moving it to another gun and have no use for night vision settings so I didn't spend the money for the more expensive one.

Got the same set-up with a stag 2h upper. Easy for me to hit the 300yd steel plates at angeles using the 1moa dot.

Yep, when I'm not shooting for groups, the Eotech's my favorite optic of all. I like it on my SU16, too.

I thought I read somewhere that even though the Eotech screen was shattered in half or to three-quarters, as long as you could place the reticle on an un-shattered portion of the screen you could still get aimed fire?

Because the screen isn't a lens, but a holographic optic, yes it's true.

It's quite high tech and does it automatically.

Same way as irons or a scope. Put the dot on the target at the range you want to zero, adjust until you're centered. The adjustment screws are on the side. You can do it in close, with a mil 25m ranging target or such, or wherever you want. A spotting scope or someone spotting for you helps.
