AR red dot help

I am a handgunner that shoots right handed but left eyed. I just built my first AR and am looking for a red dot or reflex sight that is somewhat dependable but not in the 500 dollar range. I want it for up to 100 yards. I was thinking of the Burris Fastfire, but the guy at my local store said it wouldn't work because i would not be able to see it since it sat so low. He wanted to sell me the Aimpoint micro, which i'm sure is a great sight, but for my occasional use fun gun its a bit pricy. I tried my cheapo Truglow on the AR (flattop with folding front & rear sights) and everything lined up great- I can see the sights or use the dot. Is there anything you ar guys recommend ? The Aimpoint PRO has caught my eye also. Sig also has a micro sight, but when i see stuff for 89 bucks it makes me leery. I dont shoot far due to my right eye vision so I dont want a scope, just something for up close.

Don't worry about the price, check the red dot reviews from Midwayusa, Opticplanet. The PrimaryArms work fine to 200yds, and good quality for $90, their service is good and they offer the mounts to co-witness

Hes right the fastfire does sit pretty low, most of the burris stuff that uses a picatinny mount sits kind of low for most people.

Since your already considering an aimpoint pro I would definitely say go ahead and pick up one of those. You being right handed and left eye dominant shouldn't be much of an issue with an optic like the aimpoint as you should be shooting with both eyes open when using one. I've got one on my M4 and love it...

I would go with the Bushnell it has a 2 year warranty instead of 1

I have and used Tru-Glows in the past and present and found all of them to be an excellent red dot for budget minded people like you and me. The others mentioned I would never get cuz most if not all the others are out of my pocket book. The Tru-Glows are me AR rifle standard. Simply....they work fine and last a pretty long time as NONE of mine has ever broke down.

Hi Tom,
You can use the FastFire on an AR. You will just need a riser/mount that will get optical center to approximately 1.5". Take a look at this Burris AR Flat Top mount:

I for the price the Vortex Red Dot sights are very hard to beat. I really, really like them. They offer a lot for the $.

My vote goes to the primary 3x scope which we reviewed in the above thread. Its $170.00 bucks and is very much like an acog except you can't swim to 60 meters with it and it doesn't glow in the dark...and acog doesn't glow so much in the light either BTW.

And...its very good at 100 yards.
