Orion Telescopes has a nice series of binoculars as well, including the 8x56 size in their Mini Giant series:

I picked up one of their 9x63 Mini Giants as it had the longest eye-relief of any binoculars I could find at the time - 26mm. Nice, sharp, and clear.
Orion also has other nice binoculars including special extended eye-relief models. Very nice for those of us with glasses.

You won't see the real difference between good glass and great glass until you are in conditions that you won't find in stores. After a few not so hot experiences these last years hunting, and having had the chance to look through great glass in most all conditions, Leica geovids are in my future. I've had enough already with less expensive glass.I have looked thru many Swarovski and Zeiss lenses, (I hunt the stores) superb optical quality in those glasses. I can tell you for sure than the new Nikon and Pentax are almost the equal of those expensive brands; that I only paid just over $300 with shipping for such a superb glass as the Nikon still amazes me.
Comparing good and great binos side by side in the early, misty hours of the morning is something you have to see first hand to really appreciate. Is it worth the extra $1k or more...at this point...it is to me.GAP Team Shooter 5Comment
