    quick release - do you?

I need to make a decision whether to switch over to quick release mounts for my Remington 700, reason being I had to send a bent scope to Leupold for service. I bought it used (never again -- too much uncertainty) so I don't know if it was a pre-existing condition or my drag bag caused it, but I suspect the target turrets were pushed in laterally while the scope was mounted.

I can either buy an additional ring or six-screw rings for the rail-style mount I have on there now to provide additional side-load rigidity, or I can take the scope off until I need it. This is a bench/range rifle so the scope doesn't need to be on there when I move it, but I'm also concerned about changes in POI.

    What would you do?
