I just got a savage 10-fcp and I am looking for a scope for her. It will be for target shooting and will go out to maybe 800 yards. I prefer turret style and like to keep it between 500 to 700 bucks. also what magnification is required for this kind of shooting?

i would take a good look at the vortex viper line. The magnification is completely up to you and your preference. on my two savages in .243 and .308 I have a 4x12 and a 6x24 respectively.A peace sign is really only a middle finger and a trigger finger away---- Think about it!

If it is a 308 and you would like to do Tactical or real world shooting like hunting I would say 15x would be great.
IF you are doing bench-rest or varmint hunting I would say 20x and up.
As for scope makers I would say Vortex, Weaver, Bushnell, and some Leupold would be a great way to go.
