Help with mounting

Have my newly purchased remington 700 police .308 coming this up coming week, i got it with Leupold rings and rail mount (came with gun) the shop did not mention what height or size the rings were. The scope i have is a millet with a 30mm tube and a 50mm lens objective. If i need to buy new rings, what size is acceptable???

Should i get highs?, mediums?, lows?

I just don't want to have to buy send back, buy sned back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

From what I learned, you want the scope to be able sit as close as possible to the barrel, but not so that it actually touches the barrel. Yours is a 700p, and if I remember correctly that is a heavy barrel. I'm using Med Tallys on my 700 varmint, but I think brands vary in height.

Using this forumla the front cover on my objective lens clears the barrel by 1/8".

Take the scope lay it on the base. If the objective does not touch the barrel than any size will work all that's left is to find the highth that is anatomically correct for you
