Hey all, just wondering if ALL Vortex Viper scopes are backordered? I was told the FFP ones are, but I'm looking for the Viper 6.5-20x50 PA matte, am I in the clear? Spoke with a local FFL who said there's none to be had...

CS Tactical has them and gets them regularly. It's a little bit of a drive, but consider going out to the shop and having Mike show you different scopes and give them a peek. Always nice to see the glass in person and Mike is the man!!!

What's the difference between the FFP ones and the PST ones???NRA Lifer

Apples and oranges.
Viper PST is a series of scopes.
FFP is "First Focal Plane". It means that when you zoom the scope it will zoom in on the reticle meaning the mi-dots hold valid at any zoom level.
With a "Second Focal Plane" scope the mil-dots are only valid at one zoom level. Usually max zoom.Originally posted by E Pluribus UnumI was on a ride-along, and the officer i was with saw a parked car with occupants. He was going up to ask them to move their car and as soon as he gets to the window the passenger says "I have meth under my seat."

^^^ There's your answer and the reality is that a FFP on a 1-4x is not "really" necessary. On a 2.5-10x as a spotter's rifle, yeah...I can see it being much more important for ranging, but then at those matches and exercises I carried either bino's or a moncular with the same reticle as my shooter.
