Anyone know why my Eotech 511 is dim?

Hi there, my Eotech 511.A65 had been good to me. It was always nice and bright. I don't shot my AR much, maybe once every 3-4 months, yesterday when I turn on to use it, it is so dim that even if I set it to brightest, I cannot see it during daytime. I check it indoor, at the highest setting, it is about the same brightness as my middle setting from before. I also notice the hologram looks dimmer in the middle, if I look at it from another angle, it is a little brighter, but still dim overall. I don't see any fog or haze inside the lens, and I have never drop it. Anyone have this problem before? My Eotech is not that old, it was manufacture April of 08.

Yeah, tried new battery. I also contact Eotech about it, hopefully they can help me with it. Just wondering if anyone else have this issue before. I have other Eotech, none of them is like that.

Low battery state (which EOTech describes as 20% or less battery remaining) will cause the reticle to blink on and off for five seconds at start up.

Sounds like you have a larger issue, but EOTech is very good at resolving problems in my experience. Please keep us posted!

Mike from Eotech reply me back. He told me the nitrogen inside the unit is gone and to fix that, there will be a $79 charge. No idea how that happen, but I guess I have to send it in.

Yep, had this issue with mine, but it wasnt in the center:

My warranty was just about up, but I contacted Eotech in time. They fixed it for free. Maybe yours costs $79 because youre outside the 2 year warranty period? If I were you, I'd contact Bushnell instead, because they are the ones who branded the 511....they may send it back to eotech and get it fixed for free.

Was there any damage to your Eotech that cause it to happen, because I never drop it, I am still trying to figure out how the nitrogen leak. Thanks for the info, let me give Bushnell a try for the warranty.

No, when I bought it, it came that way (I bought it second hand here). It was still plenty usable and held zero, but that brightness loss on the left side just bothered me. I was new to Eotechs and didnt know any better at first. Then I started noticing it and looked it up. I bet the calgunner that sold it to me knew it was an issue and sold it that way on purpose.....nothing in the post ever indicated it had a problem.

Glad Eotech fixed it though! Easy to deal with....no hassle or questions asked. I sent them the video above when I contacted them about it. They responded with, "send it in, we'll fix it for free". I only had to pay shipping to get it there

I've always treated this thing like my second child (I babied it).
