good morning calgunners. i have a question. how would one zero a scope to 100 yds if the indoor range is only 20 yds? there isn't an outdoor range nearby, but i will be going to one in a few weeks. i'd like to try and 100 yd zero(or as close as i can get) before i go out there and make slight adjustments when i go out. ideally i'd like to do a 25 yd zero, but i have to work with what i have. tia.

There is software you can use with a laser boresighter to print your own targets...

That sounds about right.Assuming 2.5" height over bore with XM193, zero at -1.6" at 20Y for a 100Y zero. Note that this is a rough zero and you should confirm at 100Y.
I would determine the exterior ballistics for your load. The bullet maybe still be on the rise when it hits the target at 25 yards but drop back down by the same amount by the time it get to 100 yards. If that is the case I would determine the distance between the center of your bore and the center of your scope and shot that amount lower.
Then once on paper at 100 you can easily make adjustments.Comment

Thanks folks you all have been very helpful. I will download those charts and when I go out to an outdoor range I'll use those figures to sight in. Just needed some guidance.#blackriflesmatter

Hey man I have the targets we use in the Army to zero our M4s at 25meters for 300meters. Send me your email address and Ill email one to you. Its makes it very simple just put 5 rounds into the circle at 25 meters and there you go, zeroed for 300 meters. And yes if works for scopes also. I have an ACOG on my M4, and this works great for zeroing that as well. Oh and anyone that says this wont work is crazy, this is a tried and true, tested method (in both Iraq and Afghanistan.)Last edited by penninger; 07-29-2011, 1:16 AM.Comment
