Minimum scope magnification for 800-1000 yards?

Any suggestions for the most effective magnification for shooting a .308 at 800-1000 yards? And if not most effective, decent enough.

What size targets? 10 to 15 will work fine for typical 1000 yard paper bullseye targets. Heck, people shoot 1000 yard palma with iron sites.

Not really looking for sub moa groups, just want to hit paper really. I'm just getting into long distances/Scopes and was wondering what you would need to be able to really see that far.

I like magnification between 10X to 15X for hitting steel at 1000 yards. Less than 10X and it becomes difficult to spot where missed shots are impacting.

i use the 3x-9x that i use for hunting and it works fine. obviously the more magnification the better and more accurate but if you already have a 3x-9x that maybe came with your rifle you could just use that.

You need SMKs and your set jk sorry couldn't resist.....if you want a dedicated long range scope why not go for a variable with a little more magnification like a Nikon Monarch 4-16 for around 5 bills

                          For steel 10x is plenty

Here's a 1,055 yard steel plate out of a S&B PMII 5-25x with P4F reticle at +/- 10x. Located Top right corner at 2 mils up, 4 mils right. Plenty of magnification.

My Leupold 3.5-10x does just fine at 1000yards.
