    Aimpoint Comp M4s

My go-to AR is finally coming together. I was originally looking at the Aimpoint PRO, but I lucked onto a great deal for this LNIB Aimpoint Comp M4s. For just a little more than the PRO I was able to get Aimpoint's top-of-the line RDS. Now I just have to wait for my new upper to come in.

The M4s comes with Aimpoint's QRP2 mount. The QRP2 looks solid and well-made, although adjustment knob looks absolutely huge. It's a serviceable mount though. Still I wonder if I could do better. I'm thinking of getting a Larue Tactical QD mount down the line. Is the Larue QD that much of an improvement over the Aimpoint QRP2? Please keep in mind that once I mount M4s on my SR-15 upper I don't foresee taking it off unless something goes wrong.

    Thanks for the help.

There might be a few ounces in weight savings. Can anyone confirm that?

I recently switched from the standard QRP2 mount to a Larue on my comp M4. Nothing particularly wrong with the factory one, never had any issues with loss of zero through about 850 rounds, and I probably took it off 3-4 times. And as a lefty, i didn't have to deal with the large nob digging into my stomach.

What I didn't like was the fact that it wasn't a true cowitness or a lower 1/3; It's like right in between the two.

The larue mount is superior IMO, and it allows the optic to be set farther forward (about 3 rail spaces) on the upper without bridging onto the handguard.

I picked mine up through SKDtac, so i saved some money on shipping (they have the flat $5 rate) but i didn't get the swag you would normally get from ordering directly off Larue- I guess thats the tradeoff.

I went with the lower 1/3rd cowitness as i run fixed front/rear sights.

Larue's quality is excellent. I will be adding mounts for my other optics as funds allow!

Can't go wrong with the Larue, I have one on mine and the quality is great. They are a bit pricey but you get what you pay for with them.
