I am going to buy a laser aiming device. Does anyone know the brand name of a laser, either red or green, that is the best on the domestic/foreign market? I want a laser that is just a laser and not a laser and flashlight combination although if the best on the market is made ONLY in the laser/flashlight combination, I would buy it. I would insist on a laser that will retain the windage and elevation settings. And I would prefer that the laser aiming device either be or adjust to pinpoint on the target. Thank you very, very much.

For pistols, I fell in love with the Crimson Trace LaserGrip. Sturdy, slim profile, close to the bore, adjustable, can be turned on/off and best of all doesn't change the exterior looks or interior components.
I have it on my 1911, Sig P220, Beretta 92 and already bought one for my future p226. Look for a used one on for sale forums or search for best price on the Internet for new ones. They are great if not the best. the only thing is they don't make one for every model.GCC

What firearm will you be mounting this on? Remember that the "pinpoint" you speak of wil only be at one specific distance, with one specific load. The arcing trajectory of the bullet will prevent it from being perfect at all distances.
Personally, I'm a fan of the Crimson Trace products for handguns.
There are a couple of reasons I like it over the Lasermax guide rod lasers - the Lasermax is not adjustable for elevation or windage (with the exception of the 1911 model) . Lasermax guarantees 2" at 50 yards, which is more than adequate for self defense distances, but I like to fine tune my lasers for specific distances and loads, like the longest hallway in my home. The Crimson Trace is adjustable for elevation and windage.
Activating the Lasermax requires pushing a button that replaces the take-down lever. The Crimson Trace activates when you grasp the grip firmly. In a self defense situation, fine motor skills (like pushing tiny button) deteriorate quickly. Gross motor skills (like grasping your gun) still function.
One of the best uses for a laser, for me, at least - is to practice DRY FIRING using the laser - you will be surprised at how much the dot moves when you pull the trigger. It has helped me to smooth my pull.
Also, where you expect to use it is important - red can wash out in bright sunlight, green works well in bright sunlight, but may be excessively bright at nighttime. Battery life is less with green, although Lasermax has a green laser that is rechargable from a USB port, or AC charger, without removing the laser.
Contact Crimson Trace at http://www.crimsontrace.com/Home/Get...5/Default.aspx or call them at 800-442-2406 for a free DVD that has good information on the use of lasers, no matter what brand you are using. Professionally produced video, and the price is right - free.
