    Rings not mounted correctly?

Hey guys. I searched around but couldn't find anything. I have a Saiga .308. I bought a side mount and a decent scope that came with rings. Now let me tell you, I'm a complete 19 year old scope nub, but I love to learn things on my own. I mounted the scope to the rail, but the rings look strange when mounted. It looks like the ring isn't fully attached to the rail but when the scope is mounted it looks dead center and is very sturdy. Pictures provided. Thanks!

They could have or should have made the groove in the clamping part deeper so more of the taper would be engaged, but watta ya going to do! Once your over center of the bisecting point of the angles, you're locked on. Personally, I would try to make the bottom of the clamp part deeper, thus allowing it to move higher onto the taper on the ring.

      Try flipping the clamp over.
