    Vortex 1-4x24 TMCQ Reticle Opinions?

    Hey all,

I am taking a serious look at the Vortex Viper 1-4x24 PST scope for my AR .308. I've read all of the reviews I can find, but I havent seen much said on the reticle. It appears that since this scope is a SFP based reticle, it does not get bigger and smaller as you increase/decrease the magnification. What I'm worried about is that the reticle, while very nice looking, seems EXTREMELY fine.....almost as if it is against a blending background, you can easily lose where it is.

I had this problem when looking through an ACOG TA01 with the 5.56 BDC....the zero, 200 and 300 lines were very close together and it was very difficult to tell which line was on my target and generally just very hard to see. If it is the same thing with the Vortex, I'd say it has to be a no-go for me, unfortunately.

Can anyone comment on the reticle and it's ease of use and boldness against busy/darker backgrounds?

    Thanks.

      Awesome, thanks.

I read that thread and it was one of the reasons why I was concerned about the reticle.....the the reticle seems washed out in the pictures.

I had one. Illumination isn't very bright but other than that it is great. Reticle is very fast and easy to use.

the reticle is very fine. it is a sfp reticle so it doesnt grow either. the only dark back ground i had to photo against is my dog and i couldnt get him far enough away to demonstrate. if you still want a demo, let me know and maybe i can find a cow in the pasture nearby for example.

Ya if you have the time to take reticle pictures, I would really appreciate it. I am trying to look at one locally, but the Sportsmans warehouse near me is out of stock. Ive only seen a few real reticle pictures against normal backgrounds and either it was an unfair picture or it really is that hard to see.

              Thanks.
