    Nikon Monarch experience

I'm looking at getting a 4-16x42 Monarch, but am a little nervous about the 40 MOA of adjustment that it supposedly has. This maybe a problem that I never envisioned meeting since I got a 20 MOA base on my Rem 700.

I really like this rifle (at least from what I've seen on paper and heard). 1" tube so it fits the rings I already have, mag range I'm looking for, I like the turrets, good glass, reasonable price.

Does anybody have any experience with this scope? Does Nikon underestimate their scope adjustments? Overestimate?

so nobody has any experience with this scope or the monarch series?

or experience with a scope with small range of adjustment and a 20 MOA base?

I have 2 nikon monarchs I have shoot out to 600 without a 20 moa base. The other scope I am mounting on a 20 moa base now will see how far I can shoot.

Thanks BigNick, what scope are you putting on the 20 MOA base? I would like to know how it turns out.

Anybody else have some light that they can add, experience w/ 20 MOA base that was too much for the scope mounted on it?

I've used a 4-16x42SF out to 650 yards on a DPMS 308. had absolutely no problem running out of adjustment. Nice thing about the Monarch and Nikon in general is their BDC reticle paired with SPOT ON software. You don't always need to use your turrets but rather use the BDC to make the correct holdover. The software has worked perfect for me out to 650 yards without a 20 moa base. Adjustment wise though as well, I was fine at that distance.
