Sig Sauer Stoplite 1st Impression

I wasn't sure where to put this but since it has a laser I decided on this area. Anyway I picked one of these up at Turners Wednesday (one-day sale item) and so far I like it. It's a rail-mounted front grip/weapon-light/aiming laser for an AR15 with a 700 lumen (not a typo - 700 lumens!) weapon light and a laser. The light has a thumb activated momentary switch on the back and a side mounted on, off, and strobe switches. When in strobe mode the momentary switch activates the strobe. The light itself is freaking bright! Probably a bit too bright for clearing rooms unless you want REALLY BRIGHT but the strobe function is blinding and disorienting on the receiving end which could be handy when confronting bad guys. The laser is to left of the light with the the on/off button on the back of the laser (but it seems some have the button to the right). The emitter is adjustable for both windage and elevation. The design puts the laser well below and slightly to the left of the barrel which means that the laser will only be dead on at one distance but should still put you in the ball park. I still haven't decided on a distance but for now it's set for 10 yards.

The SIG SAUER STOPLITE(TM) is designed to operate as a standalone flashlight as well as attach to an accessory rail or double as a rifle vertical grip. It features a strobe function which acts as a personal defense tool by disorienting the assailant. The light also features a fixed red laser aiming module and a built-in power receptacle. The power receptacle can drive a variety of optional interchangeable digital accessories. The STL-300J STOPLITE uses four CR123 batteries and features a 700 lumen LED with a four(4) position switch (Momentary, Steady, Off and Strobe).

The light comes in a nice looking cardboard case with a few accessories, and some very basic instructions. Mine was a demo unit and came with a holster and remote tape switch. The only downsides are the size of the grip (huge), and with this kind of output there is no way that the four CR123 batteries can last very long. Anyway for my limited needs it's pretty cool.
