Has anyone had this Nikon scope and if so, is it a good one? It comes with the free rings right now. How do Nikon's hold up over time? The price is $329.

I have not tried that Nikon scope but I own lots of Nikon scopes and Nikon like everyone else has several grades of scopes. I can't tell what product line that one is from but their Buckmasters are very good and their Monarchs are excellent. I'd ask about it over on SWFA's Optics Talk forum. They don't allow links to competitors but the forum is honest. This looks like the same scope and includes the mount. That's my favorite optics forum.
Keep in mind that BDCs aren't much more than a rough reference for hunting. That's because manufacturers have to make assumptions about bullet weight and velocity that may or may not match your rifle/ammo combination. For finer work you want a scope with a turret dial that is calibrated to your load and rifle combination. From what I've read, the internals on the M223 are from the Monarchs. I have both a Buckmaster and a Monarch and love them both. For the price, they are extremely hard to beat.Comment

Here's a pic of the Nikon M-223 1-4 Point Blank Reticle and the M-223 3-12 BDC 600 on a pair of DPMS Pardus AR's.
Both are big fun and the 3-12 will help give you long range accuracy.
