    which super sniper scope?

i recently purchased a remington 700 tactical .308 rifle. Im trying to decide on which scope to get. I keep hearing about the Super Sniper scopes and am intrigued. Most people I see went with the 10x, but for a paper puncher i'm thinking the 16x might be better. I doubt i will ever hunt with the rifle and if i do i have a 2-7x vortex scope i guess i could throw on if i ever needed it. I use my Ar15 mostly out to about 300 yards tops, so i'm thinking this rifle will be my 300+ yards on steel/paper. I'm trying to keep a scope purchase to under $400 and these seem like a good deal. Which would you go with? Also my friend advised me to get a millet Trs-1. I've read both good and bad about these. Any other suggestions will work. thanks

Save your money for a Vortex PST in 4-16x mil/mil for longer shooting. It's not that much more and the glass and adjustments are so much better.

Don't forget base & rings. I'm partial to EGW for everything there. I did a "budget" 308 1k yard rifle build and did the hole thing for under $2300. Did very well at the Allegheny Sniper Challenge. Scope is a Leupold LR/T 4.5-14x40 w/ TMR reticle. About $900 without base & rings. Here's a group from 300. Second shot was above the hole on the left.

Rifle is a 700 SPS-V in 308, B&C stock, bedded, EGW base & rings, Surefire brake, Badger bottom metal. Done.

The best lesson you can learn when it comes to optics is, buy the best rifle you can afford, but take a loan out for glass. Too many folks cry about not wanting their scope to cost more than their rifle. At the end of the day, the scope's quality is a hell of a lot more important than the rifle's quality when it comes to hitting your target at distance.

The Vortex PST 4-16 wouldn't be my first choice. Not a bad choice, just not my first. Here's a very good review that might give you some more insight.

I'd steer clear of the Millet. The SS are very good scopes, and the Falcon 4x14 x44 is a good entry level mil/mil FFP scope, if that's wht you're interested in.
