    Single Sided Scope Rings

Stupid question of the day...how far can a scope ring that only has one open side be opened up before it breaks/deforms beyond use? I'm guessing not very much, but figured I'd ask more knowledgeable folk. I've attached a photo if my words are inadequate.

    Thanks.

I wouldn't think that mount would be intended for a scope? A tac light or something to that effect makes more sense. That isn't meant to be opened up much at all, just slide whatever in an tighten down... Maybe?

That mount is for a magnifier. You would just slide the magnifier into the mount.

Yes. I was given a sightmark 7x magnifier that is a too big to fit. I was wondering if anyone has successfully force something like this open without breaking it.

Don't try to force it open. The mount that you pictured is designed for a magnifier that has either no objective bell or no ocular bell, like the Vortex VMX3...

Your Sightmark 7x magnifier appears to have both an ocular and an objective bell, so you need a more traditional mount that has a ring with a removable top (screws on both sides), unless there is a way to remove one end of your Sightmark without messing it up.

I know that the mount and the magnifier are not designed to be compatible…I was hoping some other folks had some experience forcing this type of ring wider open than I am willing to try on my own.
            Thanks for the responses.
