Could use a little help picking out a scope

I know this probably gets asked all the time in this forum but here it goes:

I am buying my first AR15, a RRA 20" Varmint, bull barrel. It is a 1:8 twist, on a harris bipod, 2 stage trigger. I want to set it up for varmint, mainly yotes and prairie dogs, although for the most point I'll be punching paper at a range that goes to 600...not that I ever have. Due to the gun I chose I mainly plan on shooting prone or sitting, if I go walking I have a different set up. Most of my knowledge is in Ak's so I know little, other than what I have read, on scopes and AR's.
I have been reading through several sites and it seems like these are the best scopes from the guys using them. All of them have good and bad reviews for one thing or another (be it price, or whatever) I'll try to note them with the scopes and maybe those who have used them can tell me if they are BS or not. Also seeing as how the cost is getting out of hand I would like to spend under $400, on the scope.

A couple guys have said anything over 12 wobbles and has a mirage problem. From what I have read side focus scope is recommended varmint reticle or mil dot, I have also read that a nice ($300) 3x9 scope (Luepold) is better than a larger magnification scope for the same price
(dont know if I believe this dues to some of the scopes I have seen, but you're the pros), others say 3x9 is not powerful enough...
so here are the top scopes:

    1. nikon coyote special $250
Cons:hard to zero, not always accurate due to a lack of exact dot in middle, and the BDC (bullet drop comp) can block shots between the 100 yards markers, however from what I see, it looks like it would be fine though.
Pros: Guys says it is great for quick shots and followups, and they can hit squirrels with it, which is accurate enought for me.

    2. -Nikon m-223 $350

Cons: I have read it is not as accurate
Pros: range for 100, quick set @ 200-500, you can look up the BDC on the site for this and the above scope and match it to your exact round to see what the BDC range is for your exact round. another pro is it's a mil-dot

    3. 4.5x14x40 nikon buckmaster sf (side focus) $260
pros: good review for holding zero and not breaking, mil dot
    lifetime warrenty, shock, fog, waterproof

both bushnells have 1 year money back guarantee and lifetime on their manufacturer defects

    4. bushnel elite 3200 5-15x40 tactical $289
pro: mildot, target turrets, comes with sunshade, fog, water, shock proof, nitro filled,

    5. Elite 4200 6-24X40 $360

    adjustable objective

    6. Luepolds, only cons I have read is the cost.
    *6-18x40 $
    * vx 4x12x40 $414
*Vx-3 6.5-20x40 lr side focus varmint reticle $600

    7 . burris eluminator $800
    4x12
Looks awesome, and has been out for 3 years without to alot of complaints other then the price and being ugly, also the laser range finder is stuck on the AR and i don't know what happens if the electronics fail but I would guess it's a paperweight until you can return it.

    8 . 4-16x50 nikon monarc
cons: complaint for plastic parts falling off

    9. Semins 6.5x20x50 scope with range finder and adjustable objective $250
not sure if it's rated for 223,

Check out the new Redfields made my Luepold life time warranty, they get very good reviews and won't break the budget

To add, mine tracks good, and holds zero well, I have packed this gun all over, it rides around in a pikcup and a jeep all the time, sometimes in a drag bag, but mostly open. Shot in the rain and snow both with this scope and its held up good, always has returned to zero for me. Dialing up to 28moa, I havent had any tracking issues with it. The parallax adjustment could work a little better though. For under 1k, these are the cats *** far as scopes go, to get these features in the price point, your looking at around the 2k mark. The glass is good in them for a >1k scope, its not nf, sb or uso glass, but I have no problem identyfieing targets at any range I needed to. Dogs were clear at over 2k with it on 24x

Plus vortex has one of the best warranties and customer service going right now.

there's a pretty cool simulator on the Redfields site for the magnification.
            Thanks for the suggestions guys

Last night i sold my leupy vx-ii 3-9x40. I then ordered an elite3200 tac 5-15x40.

I needed a quick budget replacement from a duplex to a ranging reticle with target knobs and AO. I think the x10 magnification is the proper setting to range with the mildot

I paid $300 shipped. Hopefully it works well for 600yrd. I hear elite 3200's are good entry level midrange scopes. http://www.riflescopes.webyshops.com...LAID=745651039

I have a Bushnell 4200 & 3200. If you are shooting at longer distances I'd get the 4200 with the parallaz adjustment...otherwise the 3200 should suffice.

My AR's are set up with no scope on my A2 setup and EOTECH 512 on my M4.

Mike, Not sure what you mean by 1/2 MOA adjustment. The graduations on most Nikon Scopers are 1/4 min. at 100 yards. Parallax is also adjustable on the M-223 line of scopes.
Have you checked out Nikon's big Promotion on their M-223 line? Buy a M-223 scope from a Participating Nikon Dealer and get a free M-223 AR scope Mount ( $99 Retail price). Pretty good deal and it is an excellent mount !
Mike, A Nikon M-223 scope will work very well for the applications you described.
