    Aimpoint Micro Flip Up Covers

As many of you may know, The Aimpoint Micros have limited options in terms of protecting the objective and eye lens. The rubber bikini is fine and all, but always gets lost and/or dirty. Im a fan of flip covers but there isnt much meat for the rear cover to "bite" on to.

I know GG&G makes a $150-200 dollar mount solution that gives you the ability to use Butler Creek covers...but I think it is a bit overkill. Anyone else agree??

For those with Aimpoint Micros...do you think there is a market for a cheaper solution? I have access with a CNC machine and I have already made some prototypes.

    Anyone interested?

i think the rubber bikini is just fine...I had it wrap around the DD mount, and then there's no way you lose it...

I tapped the eyepiece's tooling holes with a bottoming tap and there are more than enough threads to secure the adapter. Along with that, I have VHB to help solidify the ring to the optic. It is very very secure.

I have a few people that have contacted me about the design but if you have any input or suggestions please let me know. I want to make a cheap robust alternative to the gg&g design. I just dont know how comfortable other people are with tapping their optics. Definitely not difficuly to do, but it would be an expensive mistake to make.

You are totally right!! Its way easier to just pull them off over the mount instead of off the top. I guess I just have a bad habit of over complicating things.

I would say using a Butler Creek flip-up cap would be best and so if you can design the mount to extend further to accommodate this would be great.

Thats essentially what I did. It works great!! See post #6. You think people would be interested in purchasing something like this if I mass produced a few?

I am interested and if you'd like I can QA it for you for a objective test. What is the price point.

Sure. Ill send you something you an put through the wash. However Im just waiting on a few bottoming taps to come in from mc master.

The price point would be somewhere around 25-30 bucks...its a precision piece and would come with all the necessary hardware and tooling.
