    bipod question

Does anyone know of a bipod with a quick disconnect. What I would like to do is have one bipod that I can quickly change from one rifle to another. Thanks for your help.

The Harris bi-pods are like that.

I use mine on a Tikka T3 Ultralight, so I purchased the Harris light version.

Is there a mounting plate that stays on the gun? If so do to just buy a second plate for your other gun?

No, it mounts to your sling swivel stud. You just unscrew the knob and it comes off, then mount it to the sling swivel stud on your other gun. Whether or not you need some sort of mounting bracket depends on how you plan on mounting it and whether or not the gun has the mount point that works with the bipod.

Again, ayup! Just put a QD sling stud on every rifle and you are good to go. The harris can be changed over to another rifle in seconds.

Harris bipods are configured to allow quick disconnect. If you're using a standard rifle, you'll need one of these:

If you plan on using an AR, you'll need something similar to this:

I have one of those and a LaRue that is basically the same thing - they work great with Harris bi-pods.

Atlas bipods, plus they are in a whole nother world compared to the harris.

I've heard Atlas are nice, but have you tried to quickly deploy (simple tug on paracord connecting the legs) or quickly retract (pull down and backwards as you bug out) an Atlas? Simply can't be done. The sturdy, spring-loaded action on a Harris is a thing of beauty. YMMV.

Can you put the harris bipod legs @ a 45degree angle, forward or backward, or one forward, one backward. Can the harris pan left/right for shooting movers? Can the harris tilt 15degrees up and down?

The atlas bipod looks very nice I don't think I could justify spending that kind of cash.

Used Harris pods in plenty of open terrain action matches, never came across a position where the Harris didn't work just fine. I value the fast deploy and retract capability of the Harris over any kind of adjustability options. Myself, I feel a simpler system will always be the winner in practical use. Also, I have beat my Harris pods mercilessly for years and they just plain take a lickin' and keep on tickin'.

Try this with an Atlas pod, start standing, bipod folded up. On signal throw yourself down on a cement pad deploying the bipod with one quick swipe as you drop. Then engage and hit four 200+ yard reactive targets (say 8" diameter) and do it all in under 7 seconds, say 5-6 seconds if your pretty good.

You shoot movers and sweep horizontal target arrays by dragging a bipod leg not by moving your body position
