Competitor as in cost or in function?

Here are 2 fixed low power magnification illuminated scopes. One cost almost as much as an ACOG the other 1/3 the price.

I don't know of any other company besides Trijicon that uses fiber optics and Tritium

tactical scopes, benchrest scopes, hunting scopes, scope rings, scope bases, binoculars, spotting scopes

Here's one that just looks like an ACOG, but it's a red dot http://www.bushnell.com/products/sco...eddot/730132P/

          Elcan Specter OS4x

The British selected it over the ACOG after used the later in combat in Afghanistan.

I guess I should be more specific to my desired response. I really like the feature set of the ACOG TA31RMR but I wanted to see who else in this space competes with this specific model.

You pretty much got the best answer to your question.

Can you drop the other scopes from 6 feet on the scope, while its on the rifle, and not loose zero? Not many scopes out there that can take that abuse.

Yeah except for the arms mount. That right there would keep me away.

                  This is my choice....

Like TMC says, there really is no substitute for a Trijicon made ACOG.

Actually there are zero issues with the 3rd gen Elcan Specter DR. Most of this is coming from non-owners and people that hear from other people about the optic. Far from the truth and this optic is for the shooter who wants more than a standard Acog.

I am a former owner of 11 Trijicon Acogs and I must say the Elcan Specter DR gen 3 is way ahead of all of the 11 Acogs I had. Infact I probably wont buy another Acog again. Although rumor has it Trijicon is working on an Acog DR. Until that comes out, I will pass on an Acog. I am military and former LE and can speak from using the Acogs in the field.

For non-owners the Elcan Specter DR is like having an Aimpoint AND Acog all in one. Also I want to put to rest the weight rumors. This optic is similiar in weight to the Acog TA01 NSN. If you think thats heavy then you won't like this optic.

                      Latest Gen 3

                      Older Gen 1-2
