    Which bipod

I get this out of jail tomorrow and the only thing I need now is a bipod.

I am a newb for bipods, What do you recommend. Not too worried about cost, I like to buy quality product that will last and retain value. But I am not going to spend a ridiculous amount either.

This will be for mostly varmint hnting at a friends ranch.

Get the Harris brand. Whether you get a fixed or swivel pivot type is personal preference. I like the fixed type.

Welcome to HarrisBipods.com All bipods are manufactured by Harris Engineering NEW  MERCHANDISE - BUY NOW Welcome to

HBL is what I use on my bolt actions and AR's. I also have a shorty and a long one to handle different situations.

HBL (fixed) or HBL-S (swivel) would probably be your best bet depending on pivot style preference.

The new M option (leg notches) is handy too. I have the older style from before leg notches were available. Not a big thing though IMO

I use the Harris bipods and like them. I have a short one I use with my bolt action varmit rifles off a portable bench or prone on the ground. I also have the tallest one I use to hunt with ans the next to the tallest one for hunting. The short one is fixed and the tall ones are swivel type.

I just bought a Atlas and I know nothing about bipods except they are expensive.

I have the same rifle but in 22 magnum and I put on a $20 bipod from UTG and it works great.

GG&G has an amazing, reasonably priced bipod, based on one of the Bobro designs, IIRC (also very good). No springs, locks up tight.
This may sound strange and unbelievable to you, but it is real and true.

I have one Harris HBL-S bipod and two Shooters Ridge pivot bipods (all different lengths). I've inspected them side by side and honestly cannot see any difference. As far as I can tell, they are the same design, just made in different factories. They are equally sturdy and have virtually identical mechanisms for attaching to the sling swivel stud and adjusting leg length. The Shooters Ridge bipods cost less, which is why I have more of them than I do of the Harris bipods.

I used to run a cheap $20 EBAY from China one and it broke after 2 years or so. I bought myself a Harris 6-9 and love it. Solid as a rock.
