    M1a big budget optics...

Hey guys, so I bit the bullet and got an M1a. got the loaded model, zeroed the irons at a hundred last week, this thing is accurate!

    Heres a crappy cellphone pic...

    Magazine was preban.

Anyways, I'm looking to go out to 700-1000 yards. I'm willing to put some serious money down on glass, I got to use someones NXS 5.5-22X last time I was there, I really, really liked it.

I noticed they had a 8-32 x 56 model out there too, that's the one I was planning on getting.

All I want is it to be Mil-dot.

My budget is 1800, could go a bit higher but thats pushing it.

Any suggestions, Im open to any recommendations, I'm just leaning toward nightforce because I got to put my grubby paws on one.

3-15x NXS if you go the Nightforce route. More magnification isn't always better, especially with semi autos (wider FOV is more important).

Im all for getting a good scope for your rifle but you might want to look at slightly lower glass and get a nice stock and mounts like a jae stock. Btw I want to get one too congrats

Yeah I was looking at the JAE stocks, but honestly, the pic doesnt show it but the wood looks great! I honestly just want to do the glass bedding and leave it at that. If anything I'll buy another m1a and tacticool it I think.

Might go with that 5-22, that was a bad scope.

+1 on the JAE. I've got the SuperMatch that is bedded from SAI. It's accurate enough to get me on steel at 1k yards but I'm not going to win any contest with it.

With the JAE, you could still pick up a NXS used and not be to far over budget.

Hows the difference weight wise? Also, was the accuracy really that much improved vs just keeping the wood stock and glass bedding it?

Don't go with the 8-32. Way too much. The 5.5-22x50 is perfect. But get the MLR reticle with the mil knobs. Just do it. You'll thank me when you have a few k behind the scope.

BSA Mil-Dot on a Bassett mount.

I'd spend the money on a good mount first. You can always trade up on the scope if you find that you need bigger and better.

If you're going to put a scope on a factory M1A action, like others, I think without reconfiguring how the action sits, it's kind of doing it half way.
