    Magnifying shooting glasses...help!

Anybody have or can recommend some magnified shooting glasses?

I have some bifocal safety glasses, but don't like tilting my head back to see the sights through the bifocal. I want full lens magnification in a shooting-glasses styled lens and frame.

I've found some on Amazon and other places, but having an actual user recommendation would help.

I don't need any other vision correction, just magnification to just beyond arms length. Something in the 1.50 - 2.50 range.

Talk to your optometrist. Tell him what you are doing. They can take a measurement from your eye to the front sight and give you a correct prescription. The safety lens. be used

Ditto what swifty said. I had a set of Rudy Project Shooting Glasses done up for my father where the Rx was into the lens and the focal point was set to his front sight. All he really did was have the optometrist do an additional reading to find what correction for that focal length.

I don't need prescription lenses or the associated cost.

I can see the sights fine with regular old 1.50 reading glasses. I need 1.50 reading glasses in wraparound shooting/safety style that are not bifocal.

Honestly check out Walmart they had some winchester ones there ranging from 1.5-2.5 in various styles and lense color. They were right next to the shooting gear.

I've used a variety of the magnifying safety glasses over the years, and have had good luck with them. The main problem is finding which ones are comfortable for you when buying online. The wrap-around style, like the DeWalt DPG59, don't fit me well, and I went with the traditional safety glass style.

Aside from basic fit, some have the insert low enough that you still have to tilt your head back, which gives me a crick in my neck after an hour or two of shooting. There's just no way to test that without trying them on.

The Elvex RX-100 worked best for me, and I have several pairs for shooting and shopwork. YMMV, as always.

The other terms to search on are bifocal safety glasses and safety reading glasses. When they say bifocal, they mean non-magnified and magnified.

Another option that's worked well for me is stick-on magnifying inserts made by Optx. Cheapest price I found was on Amazon. These can take a little trial and error to get placed, but once you have them in the right place, they work great, and they'll work on any safety glasses.

I have a pair of these on one of my Elvex shooting glasses, above the built-in insert, to give me both reading and shooting focal lengths, and a pair on my sunglasses for driving.

At the bottom of the page. I just ordered the 1.50 clean and yellow lens. My Optometrist
told me that I needed the 1.50 magnification to see the front sight better. Picked up a set of the cheap readers and what a difference the front sight is very clear now.
Yes I did take SA 1911 in to the office so she could measure what magnification I needed.

If you can really sight normally without glasses, than all you need is check walmart, and buy a plane glasses that have a clear front sight.
