    Ruger Mk II mounts

Any if you guys have the no gunsmith mount for non-drilled pistols?

    Pics, reviews, etc. appreciated.

I have the Weigand non-D&T mount on a MK512 (bull barrel MkII), and it works fine - easy to install, and solid. It's a good bit taller and heavier than the drill and tap version, though.

I tried the B-Square clamp on mount. I didn't like it. If it's clamped on too tight it can affect the bolt. I also put a few scratches on my gun with it.

I ended up drilling and tapping it for a Weaver style base.

That's the one that I was looking for. Just putting together a 22 steel/practice pistol for me and an intro gun for the wife.

Awesome! Didn't even know it was out there. Less bulky than the Weigand. Now I guess it comes down to which dot I'll put on there for the Mrs. I was leaning towards the Weigand only to mound a C-More I have laying around and it's what I have on my open guns and what will be on the Mrs. 9mm open gun.

If you're going with the FFII, the Burris mount looks like a great bet - low and light. It's not a general purpose mount, though, and it doesn't look like it would mount anything but the FFII pattern mini-dots (FFII, Docter, Pride-Fowler, and RDP-II). You might could use this to mount the FF Picatinny mount, then mount a device on it, but you'd be limited to small, light devices using a single slot. I'm guessing at this, though, since I haven't actually handled one.

That would be an awesome combo - I'd love to put a FF on mine, since the weight as pictured below is 50.5 oz loaded. It makes for a very stable shooting platform, but is the heaviest of my semi-autos, beating out a loaded 1911! It's a bit pricey for me, though. My Ultradots were all bought used for pretty cheap.

Here are some pics of my Weigand. It's an older one, and they've streamlined it since then, but the mount style is the same - an insert in the dovetail that a couple of allen screws go into from the mount top.

They've cut off the front slot and tapered it down to remove weight and make it look sleeker, so I'd have to mount the UD a little further back with the current version, but that wouldn't affect anything.

I haven't had to re-zero the Ultradot since I installed it, which was probably 4-5 years ago.

I had an Ultra Dot Match Dot (30mm tube) on my 6 7/8" MKIII and it was laser accurate, but it made the gun feel too top heavy for my tastes, so I put it on my AR for awhile, it worked well there too, it may be going on an airgun soon. I want to put a FFII on my 5 1/2" MKIII for Steel Challenge work, I'll probably just use the stock rail it came with to mount it.

                      Gracias gentlemen. Likely going weigand/c-more.

Don't all MK II's come pre-drilled for a Ruger mount? I have owned two MK II's and they both came pre-drilled and came with Ruger mounts and rings.

At some point they started drilling the MkII for a scope mount. Older ones, like mine (and all MkIs), aren't drilled. Likewise, they made a 50th Anniversary version back in 99 that had the old grips with red inserts and no D&T for a scope mount.

I'm in the old MkII club as well since it was handed down from Dad to me and he bought likely near my birth.
