I didn't want the higher mount but I think I might have to do it. I just like the lower mount but my flip ups are useless.

I'm pondering buying the M4 dot and the 3x mag and the flip to side mount. Anyone know if they've fixed the flip to side mount issues that allied talked about?

They are great. Handle 223 and 308 no problem. I also used one on a M2HB not an issue.

The only problem is that I'm not sure what to get, M3 or M4. I guess it's all preference. As for the comment, "my life depends on it," as most people would comment, I use my gun for fun, plinking, target shooting, etc. I know "events" happen where I have to take my weapon out to "protect" myself and my family, but seriously, does this happen offen? Besides, most of these life-threatning events that occurs in our homes is close-quarter, no more than 15 feet away between you and the bad guy. I'm pretty much sure where you aim, you're going to hit that object.
I'm sure most people on this board don't rely on their rifles for life or death situations. I got an eotech for my AR simply because I am quite fond of them.

However I plan on getting one of these primary arms for my 522. I just want something that can hold zero, is decently durable, and won't break the bank

For life and death I think I'd end up turning more towards my shotgun or .45 w/ light/laser, because as you say it, defense usually occurs @ closer ranges.

NOW if the zombie apocalypse happens, all bets are off and it's time to break out those rebuilds

But yeah, I'm eyeing one of the red dots w/ the 3x Deluxe magnifier and the side mount. So far I've heard good things about the magnifier itself and the red dots. However people are not too happy with the mount. then there's the idea of spending so much for a .22, but can't imagine target shooting beyond 50 yds w/ a red dot without magnification. Which red dot do you guys think would be best on the 522, i'm sort of leaning towards the microdot now since it seems to take up far less room.
