i have a lever action rifle i would like to scope, but would like to avoid having to tap an drill it out to mount it, does anyone produce a setup that can avoid this?

What flavor of lever gun? I bought my Dad a nice rail for his Marlin 1895M Guide Gun, it worked out WELL. Be specific, folks will give you good advice.

Try to locate a Stith mount; it was a no-drill mount, although I think it was for 7/8" scopes.

If it is a 99EG, it has no significant collector value, so you can go ahead and have it drilled and tapped.
