    Magpul Rear MBUS Failure

Has anyone seen this type of failure before with their Magpul MBUS?

This occurred while installing and testing the spring set. I intentionally did not tighten it completely snug to avoid this. It popped right off the rail.

I've seen this failure when it's overtightened.

        Warranty claim?

I wonder if the Gen 2 MBUS will strengthen that area?

I've already sent an email with a detailed explination and picture. They had an auto reply stating they will respond in a few weeks due to the amount of emails they get.

I may go a more permanent route if this was a torquing issue.

They'll probably just send you a new one.

Call instead. You will get a much faster response.

This is exactly why I do not advocate the use of the MBUS sights on a duty weapon or any rifle that you may depend on in an emergency. They're great for a range rifle: cheap, hold zero, lightweight. But I've seen them fail where Troy or LMT metal sights would not.

I had an issue with a magpul product and called. Justin instructed me to send an email in order to have my issue resolved. He was very helpful. I still have his email. jbeard@magpul.com hope that helps.
BTW they sent me out a replacement absolutely free of charge, took a while to receive but the box/packaging it showed up in was far more expensive then the replacement part. Very impressed, rock solid company
                    +1 for magpul

So I hadn't heard from them since I sent them an email on Jan 25.

Today I sent a follow up email and Justin responded four hours later. He stated that they have seen this problem before. (Mostly Due to over-torquing of the screw).

Instructed me to return the unit and they will replace it ASAP.

Glad I followed up and here is to Magpul's good customer service. (crossing fingers)

That's probably why Magpul calls them MBUS and ditches the "I."

how did you guys manage to over torque?!?! I mounted that sucker to my ar, it was on their pretty good from the get go without tightening down the screw. Grabbed me some red loctite (blue don't really do squat) and tightened it down a couple of turns in. Zero'ed it in as good as I could and fired 1500 rds down range since. Every now and then I flip 'em up and check if i'm still zero and they haven't moved.
