Need help sighting in red dot

I have a AR-332 Prism Sight - 3x-32mm Tube Tactical Red Dot. My problem is at 25 yards (Project 2000 range) I couldn't get it sighted in. After 100rds I gave up.. Is there a easier way to sight it in (Boresight?) I'm a newb.. First gun..

How was your grouping at 25 yards? Are your iron sights zeroed in? (if you have irons sights)

What does "The problem was I wouldnt get it to sight in" mean? What exactly is your goal, what did you try, what did you expect would happen, and then what actually happened?

How you sight in is, you shoot a group, and then you adjust the sights until you're shooting a group impacting at the point of aim.

How big are your groupings?? You should be shooting it from a rest or sand bag to get really tight groups. Theres lots of information that we would need to know to help you zero your red dot. All a boresight does is get you on paper and you have to make the minor (or major) adjustments to put the rounds where your red dot is on.

If you are hitting paper, then you don't really need to boresight anything.

Have you sighted in anything before? Because if you've never successfully sighted in any sights, saying your reddot is loose is not going to help you much. But it may be loose (can even be internally loose), so each shot changes its POA making it impossible to sight in.

                  How to Boresight...
To easily get a relative good starting zero, take the upper off the lower.
Next remove the bolt carrier group.
Find a firm base, or something you can rest your upper on. I have used towels, a pillow, just something you can lay your upper on as if to rest it. You will need to be able to look down the bore, and also see through the sight.
It helps that whatever rest you use, the upper can maintain a position where it will not move, and you can look through the bore and sight without inducing movment.
Next, find an object outside (Be mindful that you will not have people walk in front of you, nor see you doing this. In essence, just be aware of where you do this. This can easily be done from home, apartment, as long as you are not in public view)
Find an object 25, 50, 100 yards away, whatever you choose. I try to use at least 50 yards.
You first want to center up the object as you look through the bore. This is very easily done.
Use the inner walls of the bore, the muzzle end, to help get the bore pointed at the your specific point of aim.
Now, look through your optic, and or open sights. Whichever one you want to bore sight, and help you get easily on paper.
You simply look through the bore, and the optic or sights, and make adjustments to sights/optic so they have the same point of aim as the bore.
                  There you go!
I can easily get on paper a 100 yards away when mounting an new optic/sight with this method.
It works very well. You can bore sight any firearm where you can look through the bore.

When bore sighting, make a note how your dot/retical moves as you move the turrets.
Generally, most scopes see a 1/4" of movement at 100 yards with each click.

Before going to the range, make sure you have your owners instructions. If none, use the web to find some.
