    Primary Arms Dots

    Hi,

More out of curiosity (and the wife wants a dot on her 22 pistol) but what's the real deal poop on these scopes. Are they worth it or are folks just buying them for the look of an Aimpoint, et. al. (or both).

    Thanks,

    Rich

I don't have one personally, but do have friends that have them. I've heard great things about them, and my buddies have never had problems with theirs, even after a few thousand rounds. For the price you really can't beat them. Now they're not real Aimpoints, but they're damn good for the price.

Primary Arms is great. You basically get some well made Chinese red dots that are backed up by a warranty from a trustworthy company. If the red dot fails for whatever reason (and I've never heard of one failing here), PA is pretty good about replacing them, at least from what I've heard.

I have 3 on my AR's and one on my Saiga... AR's have 1600 rounds thru them, just yesterday I put 300 down the pipe with one of the AR's with PA RDS. Still held zero after I droped it twice for "functionality" sake. My Saiga 7.62 is also holding zero. Only put 400 rounds thru it though so I can say much.

Great service and products. Marshall stands behind his products and will do his best to make you happy.

I own the multi-reticle M3 clone and the Micro Red dot (think T-1). As others have said, buy with confidence.

I had an m4 style from them, I liked it. The only problem I had was that the rubber retention loops for the battery cover and adjustments was crap, but that's hardly a dealbreaker. It held up just fine for me at the range on an AR, then I upgraded to something else and gave the primary arms m4 to a buddy I work with who happens to be building an AR.

Would I want to take it anywhere besides the range? No. I wouldn't want to rely on it if it came down to a survival scenario, but it was a good product for the money compared to the usual airsoft garbage out there.

If you want proven reliability, then get an Ultradot. They are about the same price as the fake aimpoint, acogs, but at least you know they work.

I just went to the range yesterday with a Microdot that I just mounted on my Mini-14. First time using it and go it zero'd in. I must say that the Microdot performed flawlessly with several hundred rounds through the gun. We'll see how well it holds up, but it certainly worked well initially. The mini-14 is a little hard on sopes, too but for $80 it's worth trying out for a while.
