Scope recommendation- Nikon Monarch vs. Super Sniper

    Hello All,
I am in the market for a new scope for my Savage 10FP .308, and I've narrowed my choices down to either a Nikon 3.3-10x44 Monarch UCC, or the SWFA Super Sniper. If I decided on the Nikon, I would get the model with a Mil-Dot reticle, as I've been wanting to learn to use a Mil-Dot for some time. Which would you recommend in terms of clarity, durability, the ability to maintain zero, etc? Fixed power vs. Variable power is not such a big deal for my purposes. The Super Sniper is $299 (10x42 rear focus), while the Nikon is $289 at SWFA. Would the 30mm tube of the SS give any advantages over the Nikon's 1" tube? I was all set on the Super Sniper for awhile, then I kept hearing such fantastic things about Nikon, and I saw this particular Monarch for such a great price. Which would you buy and why?

Thanks for any input you can give me.

30 mm is suposed to give you more adjustments. I had a Super Sniper on my Savage as well as have one on an AR. I really like the scope. Super Snipers are very good for the money and I would not hesitate to recommend one.

I can not speak on the Nikon but I have looked threw a couple of the higher end ones ($600+) and they are pretty slick.

      Hi Prc329,
Thanks for the input. I actually saw your Super Sniper for sale in the classifieds section here, and I probably would've picked it up if the other gentleman hadn't snatched it up so quickly!

Does anyone have a Super Sniper they'd be willing to let me have a look through, just to see what the optics are like?

      Thanks,
      Nic

              Prc-
That sounds awesome, except I work on Saturday mornings from 9-12:30!
PM me and maybe we can meet up next week, or next time you're at Angeles.

Thanks so much for the kind offer.

Come to the fruit shoot at burro canyon 7/21/07 and you can look through my super sniper 10X....Im sure the Nikon might be a little clearer but I like the turrets/adjustments, and 30MM tube better on the super sniper
Nothin says hate like a .308

Nikons are very nice for the money. People here seem to like the Super Snipers a lot, I would get one but I want variable power and fine crosshairs (varmint). The only scopes I've found for ~300 that don't suck seem to be Nikons.
