    question on mill dot

so from what i have read, if you are ranging using a mill dot u have to be on a certain power. does that also apply if you are using the mill dots for hold over/under or can you be at any given power? thank you for the help.

Read the "First focal plane VS. Second focal plane" in the thread that freon22 posted. Basically, FFP scopes can be at any power to range or use holdovers with the mil dots. A SFP scope has to be set at the highest power to range or use the holdovers with the mil dots.

Not all SFP scopes mil at the highest power. Most do, but not all. So the best answer is to set the scope at the power that the manufacturer made the mils to be correct at.
