Anyone tried mounting BUIS on offset mounts?

Here's why I ask. I was looking at the Dueck Defense offset iron sights - which, for the record I think are a great idea - but I also think $240 is a big hit to take if you decide you don't like that set-up. So I got to thinking, why not just buy some cheap 45 degree or Daniel defense offset mounts and just attach some BUIS on those instead. Doing it that way, you not only save some cash, but at the same time, if you don't like it just ditch the offset mounts and attach your sites the conventional way.

    Dueck defense sights:

    Any thoughts or experiences?

    Been done plenty of times.

Go there, these are competition based forums.

    Here:

Are you running these for competition? Or just general shooting?

If you don't have to follow any rules, try a micro reflex sight in a matt burkett mount. (dual optics puts you in open class if competing).

JP makes some cool offset mounts, as does daniel defense, and Larue.

JP even has a short range range tactical sight:

Most folks who do run irons alongside a scope are in the tac ops class. (one magnified optic and irons if you desire).

I dunno though, I find 1x on my Burris Tac30 to be extremely fast. Sold my Eotech and Troy BUIS. Now running a Tac30 in an AD mount.

No, not competing. Haha. Not interested - too stressful! I shoot to relax.

I'm just about done building a LaRue Stealth that I want to use primarily as a bench gun. It's scoped, but I still want to be able to use irons for SnG's. I just don't want to have to take the scope off in order to do it.
I did put some thought into mounting a little red dot on there, but to me it's just another scope to look through and I enjoy using the irons.

I had seen the JP sight before, but totally forgot about it. That's a great option.

I had a couple different 1-4x scopes, but ended-up getting rid of them because I wanted higher magnification and I was able to hit about as easily with irons as with the scope on 4x.

Thanks for the links. I'll check it out.

EDIT: Plus I like the idea of beig able to fold the sights down for a cleaner look.

        Also..
If I did combine the Troy micro sights with the 45 degree mounts, do you think they'd stick out far enough to see through? Or would it be better to go with the standard height?

The micro sights are for rifles with raised rails like POF, HK416, etc.

You wanna make sure you choose mounts that are inline with the bore, and from then, find a set is raised off the bore the same height as the normal receiver on the rail.

This would enable you to use standard sights.

Got it. I'll do more research. Not in a huge hurry just yet. Of course, if all else fails I'll just use regular BUIS or get a little reflex sight.

Come to think of it, I have two other carbines with iron sights. No reason I can't just pick up one of those to shoot with irons

            Thanks again.

It's been done for years and you're only limited by creativity.

If you're interested, I do have the JP setup that's been sitting in the bag it came in since I got it. Tried it a little and went back to a dot (I shoot Open division).
