    eotech xps2-2

I would like to do a review of the EOTech XPS2-2. I plan on using this sight on a Bushmaster 450 upper and that is why I purchased the XPS2-2. I think the 2 dots in the sight will come in handy with the 450BM. When I first unwrapped the sight I was surprised that it was as large as it is. Not that it is ungainly, but you would not want to use it on a handgun. I was impressed with the quality. It is a really nice piece of equipment. Very well constructed. It came in a plastic case with an Allen wrench that fits the crossbolt of the mount and a second screw with a large thumb knob to replace the crossbolt. Somewhat of a quick release.

When I first turned the sight on I thought I might have made a mistake by ordering the model with 2 dots in a 65 minute circle. The reticle seemed very busy when looking at it for the first time. The circle also looks pixalated when you first see it.

Now it was time to try it out! I didn't have any 450 ammo loaded up but couldn't wait to try it out, so I took the scope off of a DPMS bull barrel 5.56 upper and went into the desert. What a different impression the sight made when out in the field. In the field the reticle does not seem busy at all. And when shooting I never notice the pixalation on the circle. The two dots are very defineable. And the adjustment was great in the bright sunshine. I never had to take it to it's full bright setting. I sighted it in to hit dead on at 40 yards with 55 grain loads. At that range it shot ragged holes. I had a blast shooting rocks and cans at various distances. I love the one minute dots. I shot a group at 270 yards that measured 5.25 inches. This upper will shoot .6 inch 100 yard groups with a scope but I was really happy with 5.25 inches at 270 yard with no magnification.

I then move in to about 50 yard and did some speed shooting. I see why this sight is so popular for defense. It is faster to use than anything I've tried so far and snap shooting was fast and accurate.

My overall impression is A-1. If my 5.56 upper was a standard weight barrel I would leave this sight on it and never look back. But with the heavy barrel I will switch back to the scope. But I will put this sight on the 450 Bushmaster and I know it will be great deer medicine.

Pros--- fast, accurate, easily adjusted, durable
Cons--- only one I can think of and it's not that big of a deal for me --- battery life, but 600 hrs really isn't that bad.
