Aimpoint clone

I want to put an Aimpoit clone on my Mini 14, will this work with the stock ruger mounts or will I have to use other mounts. I would appreciate advice on where to purchase etc.

Bill,

You mention stock mounts, so I assume you either have the Ranch model or the new Mini. The Mini comes with factory 1" rings, and most Aimpoint "knock-offs" are 30mm.

I would suggest you just get a 1" red dot that you can use with your current factory rings. The Millett sp-3 is a nice one for under $75.

Also, using one 30mm Ruger ring will not work well either. If you want some ideas on which mount is best for you, go check out http://www.perfectunion.com

I'd recommend the Ultimak mount with a new Aimpoint ring, but that decision is up to you.
