A2 front sight is slightly crooked.

So i have a barrel i picked up, and after install, the rear sight needs to be a notch and a half to the right for the bore sight to line up on top of the front post at 75 yds or so. Is this fixable, or should i (hopefully) trade it to someone wanting a gas blocked barrel?

heh. um.. that's pretty darn straight if you ask me. There is only a problem if it takes all of the windage adjustment to zero the gun. it will always take a few clicks either way to get zeroed.
oh, and if you wanted a perfect sight alignment, the only way to achieve that is get away from the standard military pinned sights, and go to a national match front post where they are set screwed in. much less durable but useful if you need every last bit of windage adjustment for say high power or 1000 meter shooting.

Really? 16 clicks over is pretty normal for an ar15 ?

sounds better than any 16 I was ever issued!
Hell my weapon on my first Iraq tour was an OLD A2/203 combo with a bent front sight post and the rear elevation knob spun all the way up when you shot it cause the BB was missing. Damn I loved that rifle.
But anyway ya, it sounds fine for a "milspec" gun. Not sure how the super straight civi builders will judge it.

If someone in the sac area reads this and can straighten this up for me, i would really appreciate it.
