    2x rifle scope for a .22

I'm looking for a scope for my Marlin 795 but don't want or need anything like a 3-9 or 4x, I just want a simple 2x scope.

I thought I had found one in the Barska Contour 2x but upon receiving it I discovered it's a LER scope and useless on a rifle.
So what other 2x scopes are out there?

Get a Weaver V-3 and set it on 2X. Otherwise, I think you're stuck looking for a used 1" 2 1/2X or 2 3/4X. That's NOT a bad thing--my Savage Model 4 .22 has a Redfield 2 3/4X 1" scope in Leopold 1" "tipoff" rings. I got it used for $60 in new shape and have been shooting it for 5 years with perfect satisfaction. Has post and crosshairs reticle.

These fixed scopes are out of fashion and often go for decent prices. Weaver, Burris, Leopolds, B&Ls, Lymans, and Redfields are the best, but there are some decent Japanese jobs out there too, like Nikon. Like everything else, some dealers think that because they are "old" they are "rare" and pricey. Not so; don't bite, keep looking--small town gunshops and gun shows, estate sales, yard sales, flea markets! I only pay $75 for a great old scope in new condition, most of mine cost around $45-50.

I hate scopes, but my old eyes don't allow me to see both the front and rear sights clearly on most rifles, so all my rifles with barrels shorter than 26" have scopes now.

There may be a few others out of production, but this is the only currently produced approx. 2X that I am aware besides the Burris EER Scout scope and a few standard type pistol scopes.

There a few members on Rimfirecentral.com using this scope on .22 rifles. You may want to take a look over there as well.

P.S. Depending on the type of rifle, a standard 2X power pistol scope may work.
